February 2012: Started training Congolese Japanese language teachers

March 2013: Completion of the cultural center "CJC" with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan

September 2014: CJC begins independent operation

February 2014:  CJC building collapses

August 2024 : Congo Japan Corner was established

We have been holding our activities thanks to  the cooperation of Professor Simon Bedelo of Keio University SFC, the Hasebe Yoko Study Group, ISP GOMBE, a national teacher's college in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Iwasaki (Vice President), a Japanese language education expert, and also with the support from the Japanese Embassy in the Congo and the JICA office.

Before the collapse of CJC, more than 130 Japanese students stayed in Congo through our activities, more than 1,000 Congolese learned Japanese, and more than 30 people completed training courses and obtained Japanese language teaching qualifications (certified instructors of the MISJ method developed by Iwasaki). Dozens of Congolese people traveled to Japan, studied abroad, and some even found employment in Japanese companies.

After the collapse of the CJC building, Mrs Iwasaki and Mr Mususa and Ilonga (two former managers ) jointly invested in the establishment of the NGO "Congo Japan Corner" in order to continue this everlasting collaboration and japanese eductaion activities in Congo.

Current and Future Activities
We are currently carrying on the 10-year history of CJC, providing Japanese language education for Congolese people, adult education, and holding cultural introduction and exchange events.

In the future, with the cooperation of the Japanese Embassy in Congo and the JICA office, we will expand our activities to a wide range of areas, with a view to building mutual understanding and cooperative relationships with other African countries.
